Waxing Precautions & Aftercare

Your skin’s health and comfort are our top priority. Please read the following before and after your waxing service to ensure the best possible results and to avoid unnecessary irritation.

🚫 Before Your Wax: Precautions to Follow

To reduce the risk of discomfort or adverse reactions:

  • Avoid exfoliating or shaving the area for at least 3 days prior. Hair should be about ¼ inch long (approx. 5mm) for best results.

  • Refrain from applying lotions, oils, deodorants, or perfumes to the area on the day of your appointment.

  • Stay out of direct sun and tanning beds for at least 24–48 hours prior to your service.

  • If you’re using topical treatments like Retin-A, Accutane, or alpha hydroxy acids, notify your technician—these products can thin the skin and increase the risk of lifting.

  • Let us know if you’ve had recent skin treatments (chemical peels, microdermabrasion), or if you have allergies or skin sensitivities.

  • Avoid waxing while menstruating. During your cycle, hormonal changes can thin the skin and heighten sensitivity, increasing the risk of discomfort and skin lifting. Please plan appointments outside this time when possible.

💆‍♀️ After Your Wax: Care Tips for Healthy Skin

Some redness, small bumps, or tenderness may occur—especially if it’s your first wax. These are temporary reactions. To soothe the skin and prevent irritation, follow these tips:

  • Apply aloe vera gel, antiseptic cream, or a cooling ointment like A&E All Purpose First Aid Cream. You can also gently ice the area.

  • Avoid heat and friction for 24–48 hours:

    • No hot baths or showers (use lukewarm water)

    • No tanning beds, saunas, hot tubs, or steam rooms

    • No workouts, tight clothing, or vigorous activity

    • No deodorant or scented lotions on treated areas

    • No swimming in chlorinated pools

  • Don’t touch or scratch the waxed area with unwashed hands.

  • Wear clean, loose-fitting clothes to prevent friction.

  • After 24 hours, moisturize daily with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion to maintain smooth skin.

  • Avoid additional skin treatments on the waxed area for at least 48 hours.

  • Do not shave between waxes—this disrupts the hair growth cycle. Schedule regular appointments every 4–6 weeks for long-term smoothness.

  • For ingrown hairs, gently exfoliate a few times a week and extract only with clean tweezers if necessary.
